Still Knitting Presents

I’m still knitting presents. As a matter of fact, my wrist is getting achy so I am taking a day off from knitting even though I still have a few things to finish. Here are three more completed gifts.
I finished another Knitting Needle Knitting Bag for a friend. I love making these but sewing in the lining is a pain. It is more practical lined though. Next is Subway Mittens for my niece from the Interweave Knits Holiday 2007 issue although I am sure I’ve seen them someplace else too. Then is a hat to match Dashing and I’m not going to say who it is for. I saw this hat on Brooklyn Tweed’s site and used his modifications for crown shaping. It is Cap Karma by Smariek. I wish I had used a smaller needle to make the ribbing a little tighter but otherwise I love this hat. I just hope it fits the recipient and they like it. Some people can be so picky.

Two Presents and a Broken Needle

I've finished two Nomad Hats and Scarves from Fall 2007 Interweave Knits. I used Knitpicks Wool of the Andes Bulky and they were fast and easy to knit, great for gifts. One is for my mother and one is for a friend. They are so warm and comfortable I ordered some more yarn to make one for myself, but after the holidays. Now I'm working on another Knitting Needle Knitting Bag for another friend and Dashing from Knitty, also as a present. I was using two circulars with Reynolds Lite-Lopi for Dashing instead of double pointed needles, which I hate. I just finished one (except for the thumb) and started the second when this needle snapped. It is an old Boyle 16 inch size 7 and I don't even remember when I bought it. Thankfully, I was able to call Knitpicks and order a new one right away. I should still have time to finish these before Chanukah.

Knitting Needle Knitting Bag

I wanted to make one of these for a holiday gift for a knitting friend but when the Reynolds Lite-Lopi I bought for a vest didn't work out, I doubled it and made one for myself. I had to test out the pattern, right? It is an Interweave Press knittingdaily pattern and is perfect. This was so much fun to make and fast too. I decided to line it so needles won't poke through and fell in love with this old fashioned print that I saw in a terrific fabric store in Brooklyn New York. I think I'll get a lot of use out of this bag.
